Together with Rathheim's trash diver André Jüngling, the youth of 1. FC Heinsberg-Lieck set out last Saturday to collect trash in and around the lake.
In great weather and with clear underwater visibility, André was able to pull a sign ashore on his first dive. Further dives revealed a small beer keg, bottles and cans, a power distributor, a post, a metal trolley, and countless small trash items. While André searched for trash underwater, the players, armed with gloves, trash grabbers, and trash bags, went around the lake. The trash bags quickly filled up, and countless bottles and cans were also found here. Bedding, a shelf, a full paint bucket, and a broken inflatable boat were properly disposed of in the container provided by the city. For Patrick Räde, who also plays in Lieck and is the local representative of Lieck, and André Jüngling, it was a great joint action that should definitely be repeated. At the end, André had some conciliatory words: "I am surprised at how clean the Lago is compared to other lakes. A truly beautiful lake in the middle of Heinsberg."
