On January 4, 2025, the First Team of the Lions participated in the Hall City Championship, hosted by Union Schafhausen. Coach Lennartz's team delivered a strong performance and secured third place in the end.
The start of the group phase was promising: In the first match, the team achieved a confident 2-0 victory against Aphoven-Laffeld. The team also impressed in the second match against the favored Dremmen, fighting back from a deficit to secure a 3-3 draw.
The third match featured an exciting duel against league rival Karken. In an intense game, the Lions earned a well-deserved 1-0 victory and even temporarily led the table. However, in the final group match against the host Schafhausen, who plays in the Mittelrheinliga, the young team suffered a bitter defeat: a 1-6 loss. Yet a fortunate circumstance brought the Lions to the semifinals: Dremmen couldn't get past a draw against Karken, allowing the Lions to advance as group runners-up.
In the semifinals, the team faced Unterbruch, who were in excellent form and won the match 3-0. However, the Lions didn't give up and continued to fight in the match for third place. There, they defeated the Kreisliga A team Kempen 2-0, securing a well-deserved spot on the podium.
With this strong performance and third place, the team managed to reach the podium again after a long absence, concluding a successful Hall City Championship.
