Against the third team of RaPo, the men of the coaching duo Liebton/Küppers achieved their second victory of the season in an exceptionally fair match. The home team took the lead as early as the 8th minute. A throw-in by RaPo was intercepted with a header, and via da Costa, the ball reached Thomas Joschko, who skillfully dribbled past the goalkeeper and slotted the ball into the now-empty net.
Subsequently, several chances by the red Lions went unused, proving once again the old football adage: if you don't score up front, you'll eventually be punished at the back. This was also the case in this match; a lapse in concentration in the Heinsberg defense – earlier, defensive stalwart Anton Maier had to be substituted and stitched up in the hospital after a collision with a RaPo player – allowed the visitors to capitalize and equalize in the 38th minute.
In the second half, it became evident that the two Heinsberg coaches had not lost their playing class. Liebeton moved from defense to the attacking center and, following a fine cross from da Costa, showcased his heading strength by leaping over his opponent and netting from close range to restore the lead.
The highlight of the match, however, came from the other part of the coaching duo. Tim Küppers pulled off a Mario Basler moment, curling a corner kick directly into the goal for the 3:1 final score – the Seestadion was ecstatic.
After the final whistle, players from both teams enjoyed currywurst and cold drinks. When Anton Maier returned from the hospital, freshly stitched and grinning, the perfect matchday for the "Third" was complete.
