In the first game after the winter break and simultaneously the last match of the first half of the season, SC Selfkant was our guest.
After Übach-Boscheln surprisingly withdrew their U13 (D-Jugend) team during the winter break, the Lions unexpectedly became league leaders. Against the opponent's strong defense, the boys were determined to hold on to their top spot. And so it began. Already in the 2nd minute, the score was 1:0. Chances followed in quick succession, but it took until the 24th minute for the 2:0 to come. Practically in response, Selfkant scored to make it 2:1. This was followed by the guest's strongest minutes. But with the 3:1 in the 27th minute, which was also the halftime score, the major resistance was broken. In the second half, our team made several substitutions. Further goals in the 43rd and 46th minutes secured the 5:1 final score. Remarkably, Selfkant had only conceded 5 goals in the Sonderliga up to that point.
On Tuesday, the season's absolute highlight awaits: a friendly match at Borussia Mönchengladbach.
